Participants of Course 34 of the National Defence College (NDC) have pledged to submit strategic recommendations on national security, agriculture, and natural resources following a study tour of Kebbi State.

The team leader, Commodore A.A. Abu, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwandu, Major General Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar (rtd), at his palace in Birnin Kebbi.

Commodore Abu said the NDC continues to groom future strategic leaders with the analytical capacity to address Nigeria’s evolving defence and security challenges.

He noted that since its establishment in 1992, the college has trained senior officers from the military, police, key government institutions, and international participants, including two members of the visiting team from Tanzania and Gabon.

Abu said the visit was aimed at seeking fatherly and professional guidance from the Emir, whose decades of military experience would lend weight to their final recommendations.

In his remarks, the Emir urged the participants to be inquisitive, patriotic, and committed to building a productive and inclusive nation for future generations.

He also advised them to uphold good family values, nurture responsible children, support economic development, promote industrial growth, and continue safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Commodore Abu further commended Governor Nasir Idris for transforming Kebbi into a major hub for rice, onions, and other exportable cash crops.

The NDC team has been in Kebbi for a five-day study tour and earlier paid a similar visit to Governor Idris. They are expected to conclude their tour on Saturday.
