Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has dismissed rumours alleging an attempt to remove Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Speaking with National Assembly correspondents on Tuesday, Senator Kalu described the reports as unfounded, saying the Senate remains focused on making laws that will help President Bola Ahmed Tinubu address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
He emphasized that the upper chamber is committed to enacting legislation that supports businesses and alleviates the hardship faced by Nigerians.
Commenting on the recent statement credited to former U.S. President Donald Trump, Kalu said both Christian and Muslim communities have suffered from violent attacks in the country, stressing that terrorism must be condemned without religious or ethnic bias.
The former Senate Chief Whip disclosed that he had previously discussed Nigeria’s security situation with two former U.S. Presidents and six serving U.S. Senators, who expressed willingness to assist Nigeria in combating terrorism.
Senator Kalu urged Nigerians to remain calm, united, and supportive of President Tinubu’s administration to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.
