Elected leaders across the country have been advised to work towards the socio-economic development of Nigeria to justify the mandate given to them by the electorate.

A Public Affairs Analyst, Alhaji Idris Aliyu Kaura, gave the advice while reacting to reports that a 96-year-old woman was prevented from voting in Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election due to the absence of a Permanent Voter Card.

Alhaji Idris Aliyu noted that the elderly woman’s strong desire to participate in the election clearly shows that Nigerians believe in democracy and expect leaders to address the nation’s pressing challenges to move the country forward.

He expressed the hope that huge deployment of security personnel for the Anambra State Governorship poll would also be replicated in other parts of the country to deal with banditry witnessed over the years.
