Kaduna State Government says it will continue to provide support for the vulnerable in the state to enhance their socio-economic life.

Governor Nasir Ahmad Elrufai stated this when he received the United Nations Population Fund Country Representative, Mrs Ulla Mueller at Government House for a joint programme to mark International Women’s Day.

Governor Nasir Elrufai maintained that one of the main responsibilty of government was to provide an enabling environment for people especially the less privilege to achieve their full potentials.

Malam Nasiru El-Rufai disclosed that sixty three per cent of the state’s budget in the first four years of his administration was invested in education, healthcare and assisting vulnerable persons.

The governor also told the UNPF officials that, the state government was in the process of establishing a social protection agency that will enable the poorest and vulnerable inthe state to get various support.

He thanked the UNPF for its unique approach to reach out to women and other works that touched the lives of the people.

Earlier, the UNFPA county representative, Mrs Ulla Mueller said they chose to celebrate the day in Kaduna, because women occupied about forty three percent leadership positions in the state.

The UNPF country representative pledged to work with Kaduna state government and find ways to support its efforts to drive sustainable development.

Awards were presented to the governor and other recipients in recognition of their work to enhancing gender equity.
