The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended security agencies for successfully countering the incursion of bandits into Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State from neighbouring states.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau praised the troops for their courage, professionalism, and gallantry in defending the communities.
He noted that troops of the Joint Task Force Operation MESA in Shanono, led by the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, repelled the attackers and protected residents from harm.
The statement added that following a tip-off on November 1st, the troops, working with other security agencies, confronted the bandits in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralisation of 19 criminals.
He expressed grief over the loss of two soldiers and a vigilante operative who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, describing them as heroes who died protecting their people.
The Deputy Senate President urged residents of the area to remain vigilant, stay calm, and promptly report any suspicious activities to security personnel for timely intervention.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continually support security agencies operating within Shanono, Kano North Senatorial District, and the entire Kano State.
He added that Shanono and other local government areas in Kano North, as well as the entire Kano State, are peaceful, and .We will not allow these fleeing criminal elements from neighbouring states to destabilise our communities.
