The First Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has commended the Chairman of Gusau Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Imam, for empowering residents with various items aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving livelihoods.
She made the commendation during the commissioning of empowerment items in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal explained that the items distributed included cars, motorcycles, tailoring machines, grinding machines, wheelchairs, foodstuffs, and cash gifts to beneficiaries across the local government area.
She described the initiative as a laudable effort that supports families, promotes self-sufficiency, and helps to reduce economic hardship among citizens.
The First Lady congratulated the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme and urged them to make judicious use of the items provided to enhance their means of livelihood and contribute meaningfully to community development.
In a related development, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal officially received a group of women who defected from various political groups under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
She noted that their decision to join the PDP was timely and commendable, describing it as a show of confidence in the developmental strides and people-oriented policies of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
The First Lady assured the new members of inclusion and equal opportunity within the party, urging them to actively support the administration’s vision for peace, empowerment, and sustainable development across the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of Gusau Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Imam, said the empowerment initiative was to support the needy for self reliant.
