In a significant development for the biggest public relations gathering in the world, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has accepted the position of Royal Ambassador for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja, 2026.

The traditional ruler, who also serves as Coordinating Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with the traditional institution, describing it as a strategic way to highlight Nigeria’s cultural heritage on the world stage.

“Bringing the entire world to Nigeria is no small task. It’s a huge responsibility that needs support from everyone,” Alhaji Abubakar said. “I will be committed to doing everything I can to make this event a success when it takes place in November 2026.”

The Etsu Nupe made the commitment when he received a delegation from top officials of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) at his palace in Niger state.

The delegation, led by NIPR President and Chairman of Governing Council, Dr Ike Neliaku, expressed gratitude for the Etsu Nupe’s support during the recent National Unveiling of WPRF 2026 in Abuja.

Dr Neliaku commended the traditional ruler’s character and community impact, noting his widespread appeal across different sectors of society.

“We’ve traveled across this country and met many people over the years. When we find individuals who value humanity and want to make a positive difference, we celebrate them. That is one of the main reasons we’re here today, to appreciate you for who you are and what you represent,” Dr. Neliaku said.

The NIPR delegation included several distinguished members who each took time to appreciate the traditional leader for his partnership. Among them were HRH Dr. Tayo Hatsrup, former Council Member; Dr. Suleiman Haruna, Chairman of WPRF Abuja 2026; Council Member Ahmad Sajoh; Council Member Olubunmi Badejo; Prof. Okay Ikechukwu; Alhaji Kudu Abubakar; and Dr. Ebere Emeribe.

The World Public Relations Forum is expected to provide a platform for Nigeria to showcase its traditions and strengthen international relationships.
