The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved ₦2.55 billion for a geo-physical survey aimed at conducting a condensed geoscience study focused on oil, gas, and uranium, as well as a comprehensive geoscience survey of solid minerals across the state.

In a statement to newsmen, the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, said the initiative represents a major step in the state government’s commitment to unlocking Jigawa’s vast natural resource potential.

He explained that the survey will generate critical data on subsurface mineral, oil, and gas deposits, facilitating informed decisions, attracting investors, and promoting sustainable economic diversification.

He further explained that, the Council has reiterated the administration’s focus on economic development through the responsible and data-driven
exploration of natural resources.

Sagir noted that, by investing in high-quality geoscientific studies, the state aims to create new revenue streams, stimulate local job creation, and lay a solid foundation for industrial development.

He added that, the Geo-Physical Survey for subsurface mineral, oil, and gas deposits will be delivered by competent professionals in accordance with international best practices and applicable regulations to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and strategic value of the findings.
