As part of its commitment to women’s economic empowerment, the Kano State Government has announced plans to organize training sessions on hygienic milk handling, product preparation, and preservation techniques for female milk vendors across the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and People with Special Needs, Ambassador Amina Abdullahi Sani, disclosed this during a working visit to the Female Milk Vendors’ (Nono Sellers) Market located along Zaria Road in Kano.

According to the Commissioner, the visit aimed to assess the current conditions of the market and explore practical measures to improve the working environment and business prospects of the women vendors operating there.

Ambassador Amina explained that equipping the vendors with modern and practical skills would not only enhance their income and business sustainability but also ensure the availability of safer and healthier dairy products for consumers.

She further stated that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is fully aware of the challenges faced by women vendors and has demonstrated strong commitment to supporting them through targeted empowerment programmes, improved market facilities, and business development opportunities.

The Commissioner assured the women that the state government is not only listening to their concerns but is also ready to take concrete action to improve their welfare, working conditions, and access to empowerment opportunities.

She was accompanied by directors from the Ministry, signifying the government’s united resolve and institutional commitment to uplifting grassroots women engaged in informal trade and small-scale enterprises.
