Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening education as the foundation of development and empowerment.
Speaking at the maiden Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Best Teacher Award Ceremony held in Kaduna, the Governor who is represented by the commissioner for education Prof. Abubakar Sambo hailed teachers as “the heart and soul of the educational system, the architects of the future, and catalysts for societal transformation.”
Governor Sani praised their resilience and dedication, assuring that his government would continue to prioritise policies that empower and motivate teachers across the state.
Highlighting his administration’s investments in the sector, he noted that education has consistently received the highest budgetary allocation, with 25 percent in 2024 and 26.14 percent in 2025.
He further disclosed that since May 2023, his government had built 62 new secondary schools, 707 new classrooms, renovated 2,326 classrooms, supplied over 30,000 pupils’ furniture and 3,704 teachers’ furniture, introduced special courses for Tsangaya teachers at Kaduna State University, reduced tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions by 50 percent, and expanded scholarship opportunities.
He also recalled the recent commissioning of three state-of-the-art vocational and skills development institutes, describing them as among the biggest and best-equipped in Nigeria.
“These investments reflect our belief that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and unlock the potential of our people,” the Governor said.
As part of the awards, each best teacher from the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State received a certificate, a plaque, and a cash prize of ₦500,000. The overall winner, from Chikun Local Government Area, received an additional ₦500,000 cash prize.
Governor Sani congratulated the honourees, expressing confidence that the recognition would inspire more teachers to strive for excellence.
“Long live our hardworking, dedicated, and resilient teachers. Long live Kaduna State,” he declared.
