Retired federal government workers have been urged to suspend their planned naked protest over the delayed payment of benefits in the interest of public peace.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Northern Caucus, Alhaji Alhassan Ado Doguwa, made the appeal in a telephone interview from Abuja.

He assured that as representatives of the people, lawmakers will do everything possible to address the socio-economic challenges facing workers and pensioners, in recognition of their contributions to national development.

He explained that house committee on pension and other relevant committees had recommended ways of solving such problems for necessary action expected to improve welfare of the senior citizens.

Alh. Alhassan Ado also stressed the need for the people to demand accountability from State Governments which had been receiving increased monthly revenues from the Federation Account rather than focus on the Federal Government.
