Sokoto State Government says it will remain committed toward the improving Health sector in the State.

State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohamed Gobir stated that while receiving the new Unicef Country Representative Mrs Wafaa Sa’eed who was on familiarisation visit to the State.

Alhaji Idris Gobir said it was based on that,the sector has been enjoying highest budgetary allocation since assumption of office of the present administration.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Director of press affairs (Deputy Governor’s office) Garba Muhammed, The Deputy Governor said the aim was to ensure that people are accessing health care services with ease.

He expressed satisfaction with the various supports being received by the State Government from Unicef for the improvement of Health sector.

Alhaji Idris Gobir assured that the State Government would continue to render whatever support required by Unicef for the smooth conduct of their activities in the State.

Earlier,the newly appointed Country Representative Mrs Wafaa Sa’eed said Unicef activities were geared toward the well-being of people particularly children globally.

Mrs Wafaa Sa’eed announced that Unicef would assist 18,000 vulnerable children in the Health Insurance Programme in the State.

She further said the Fund has provided 200 tablet handsets and the same number of power bank as well as 3 lap tops for Social Register in the State.

The Unicef Country Representative accompanied by a new Deputy country Representative in charge of operations Mr Charles Opikoli Lolika expressed appreciation with the cooperation the Fund was receiving from the State Government and hoped the tempo would be sustained.
