Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to repositioning and delivering quality healthcare services at the grassroots.
The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWPHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, stated this when she received the Executive of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Stakeholders from Oke-Ero Local Government and the Head of Department, Health, in Ilorin.
She noted that the present administration has consistently demonstrated commitment towards making healthcare more accessible to every citizen, especially in underserved rural communities.
Professor Elelu explained that the state has made huge investments in revitalizing the primary healthcare sector, in order to ensure that quality services are brought closer to the people.
The Executive Secretary maintained that under the present administration, over 70 primary health care centres have been comprehensively renovated and equipped across the state, adding that several others are undergoing phased upgrades.
She disclosed that essential medical equipment, solar-powered boreholes and alternative power supplies have been provided to strengthen service delivery and ensure regular functionality of health facilities.
Professor Elelu said that the state government has prioritized the regular supply of essential drugs, improved staffing, recruited health workers and continuously trained nurses, midwives and other health professionals to enhance their capacity in line with global best practices.
She hinted that the Agency has also deployed digital innovations to strengthen health information systems for better planning, monitoring and accountability in the health sector.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Mr Aminu Shehu, said that the state Governor’s people-centered approach has brought visible transformation to the healthcare system in the State, particularly in primary healthcare delivery.
He pledged their unflinching support to the state government in its quest to deliver affordable and accessible healthcare for all.
