The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has restated the commitment of Northern Governors to repositioning the company as a unifying economic institution for the region.

Governor Zulum, stated this when visited the headquarters of the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) in Kaduna.

The governor who also serves as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) Implementation Committee on the Restructuring of NNDC, was received by the company’s board and management.

His visit followed an earlier meeting between the committee and the NNDC Board of Directors at Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kaduna.

Addressing staff of the company, Zulum described NNDC as the last surviving legacy of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, and stressed that its repositioning was central to the economic aspirations of Northern Nigeria.

He assured the workforce that their welfare and career progression remain a priority under the ongoing restructuring process.

The governor appealed to staff to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive as efforts continue to transform NNDC into a world-class conglomerate.

On behalf of the 19 Northern Governors, he pledged that the company would not let them down in its renewed mandate.

Staff members of NNDC expressed appreciation to the governors for their support, particularly commending Governor Zulum for spearheading efforts toward the company’s revival.

Governor Zulum was accompanied on the visit by Deputy Governors Josephine Piyo of Plateau State, Kayode Alabi of Kwara State, and Mani Mallam Mummuni of Zamfara State.

Also in attendance were the Chairman of the NNDC Board, Alhaji Lamis S. Dikko, alongside other directors, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Malam Shehu Mai-Bornu, executive directors, and the company’s secretary/legal adviser.
