It has been observed that the various educational reforms initiative adopted by the Niger state Government to transform and revamp the education sector has been yielding positive results.

The Director Test and Measurement Niger state Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Alh Garba Asab Abdullahi who stated this in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent in Minna, maintained that this is the reason why the state Government accord priority to the training and retraining of its teachers to thrive.

Alh Garba Asab Abdullahi explained that under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago in the last two years, the Immediate Past Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed has come up with solid foundation for the development of education sector to include the review of text books that has no doubt  guaranteed quality education.

According to him before this time, text books in Niger state have not been reviewed for the past eighteen years, and again introduced the issue of quality assurance to monitor the use of those text books to helped to enhance effective teaching and learning in schools.

The Director Test and Measurement Niger state Basic and Secondary Education, however explained that Dr Hadiza Asabe Mohammed during her time had set up a committee to go through all processes of quality assurance by way of domesticating it, which had been taken to the Executive Council meeting and was approved.

Alh Garba Asab Abdullahi said the Immediate Past Commissioner For Basic and Secondary Education, also introduced twenty five Local Government Area Directors that would enable them report exactly what is happening at the grassroot level as well as managed its affairs directly, while the ministry undertake it’s  supervisory role function to succeed.

He however said the Niger state Teacher Professional Development Institute, the first of its kind in West Africa Sub region had helped in no small measure towards the training and retraining of its teachers for effective service delivery in some states such as Katsina state visited Niger state to understudy pivotal programme.

Alh Garba Asab Abdullahi further explained that instead of pivotal programme the delegation from Katsina state ministry of education learnt more from the Early Child Care Development Education of  a Child ECCDE, which he was in build, and that is why you cannot compare teachers of today and those that went to Teachers College before.

The Director Test and Measurement Niger State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, added that in the couple of years to come people will be trooping to Niger state to copy wide range of issues due to an enabling environment provided by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture and above his new Niger Agenda among others.
