As Muslims across the globe commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has called on Muslims to strive to embody the virtues of the Holy Prophet.
In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, on the occasion of Eid-El-Maulud, the Governor reminded Muslim faithfuls that the period of Maulud is not only a time for celebration but also for deep reflection for all Muslims.
He however reminded them of the need to uphold the significance of the Eid-El-Maulud celebration, which reinforces spiritual renewal, unity and acts of charity among others.
The Governor explained that the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is a gift and blessing to all adherents of Islam, as his coming brought about guidance and divine revelation of the Holy Quran to humanity.
He maintained that the Holy Prophet lived an exemplary life of humility, compassion, kindness, sacrifice, integrity, justice, and commitment, among others, which are worthy of emulation.
While congratulating Muslims on the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, Governor Umar Bago urged them to use the period and make new commitments that would enhance their understanding of Islamic teachings for a sustained peaceful coexistence with all and sundry.
Umar Bago encourages them to pray for the President and all other leaders in the political, religious, and traditional circles for Allah’s wisdom, guidance, and protection for better service delivery.
The Governor charged them to also pray for lasting peace and prosperity across Niger State in particular and Nigeria in general to achieve the desired objective.
