Nigeria has re-affirmed its determination to the fight against terrorism in West Africa and the Sahel region.

Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar stated this in his address at the opening of the regional conference on combating emerging terrorist groups and strengthening sustainable security held at the National Counter-terrorism Center, Abuja.

Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar explained that Nigeria has positioned itself within the wider geo-political space, pointing out that regional security requires a balance of African resolve and international solidarity.

He noted that insurgency, terrorism and insecurity are existential challenges that endanger people, economies and shared future.

The Minister advocated for a shift beyond declarations, to a practical roadmap that deepens co-operation and secures the future of West Africa.

A statement by the Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali says Alhaji Badaru Abubakar was special guest of honour to senior officials, diplomats and security experts at the conference.
