Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has repaired and restored cold chain equipment in eight local government areas.

The initiate aims to guarantee vaccine safety and potency for children and women across the state.

The intervention, supervised by ACASUS, a technical partner supporting routine immunization, covered 17 health facilities and one local government cold store in Ungogo, Sumaila, Gabasawa, Dawakin Tofa, Danbatta, Dawakin Kudu, Tudun Wada, and Bebeji LGAs.

Manager of the Floating Assembly Team, Faisal Suraj Isyaku, said the repairs had brought the cold chain system back to full capacity, ensuring that health facilities can now provide reliable immunization services.

“This intervention reflects our commitment to strengthening routine immunization services across Kano State. With the cold chain equipment now operational, health facilities are better positioned to provide reliable services that protect children and women from vaccine-preventable diseases,” he stated.

Director-General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim, commended the team and its partners, describing a functional cold chain as the backbone of effective immunization.

He assured that the board would continue routine monitoring, prompt repairs, and preventive maintenance across all local government areas.

Health officials say the repairs are part of ongoing efforts to keep vaccines safe, potent, and consistently available in all communities, thereby boosting routine immunization and primary health care delivery in Kano State.
