The Presidency has rebuffed a wisely-circulated statement that Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, is now the National Chairman of the APC, following the resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.

A counter statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, says Senator Akume remains the SGF.

“There has been no change in the status of His Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federations.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments”, the statement maintain.

It emphasises that the information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue, describing it as the fabrication of agents of mischief, advising Nigerians to disregard the fake news.
