A delegation from Office of the Special Adviser to the Niger State Governor on Political and Strategy, led by Alh Nma Mohammed Kolo, recently visited victims of the devastating floods in Mokwa.

During the condolence visit, Committee Chairman Joseph Saidu Barde announced a donation of two million naira, which will be channeled through the office of Secretary to the Niger State Government, Abubakar Usman Gawu, to ease the hardship of affected persons.

According to him the financial assistance is intended to complement the efforts of Niger State Government under the dynamic and result oriented leadership of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago in addressing the urgent needs of those affected by the natural disaster.

Alh Mohammed Nma Kolo also applauded the charismatic and exemplary leadership of Governor Umar Bago for visiting and making a personal donation of one billion naira for the immediate rehabilitation and resettlement of victims of Mokwa flood disaster as well as the provision of fifty trucks of grains to ameliorate their hardship.

The Special Adviser Political and Strategy, however appealed to people of the state to continue to support and rally round Governor Umar Bago in his genuine efforts to transform the state, saying that with the pragmatic leadership of the Governor, his ambition of a New Niger will be a reality, as all the indices are there for every one to see and appreciate.

Receiving the donation, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Gawu, Secretary to the Niger State Government, thanked him for the donation and gave an assurance that the funds will be utilized judiciously for the benefit of Mokwa flood victims.

He also highlighted the importance of advocacy efforts aimed at encouraging local communities to avoid building their houses on water ways to prevent future occurrence.

Prayers were offered for the souls of those who loss their lives in the floods, as well as for the swift recovery of the injured persons.
