Jigawa State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that claimed the lives of over twenty athletes, coaches, and officials from Kano State.

The victims were returning from the National Sports Festival held in Ogun State when the accident occurred on the Chiromawa Bridge along the Kano-Zaria expressway on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

In an official condolence message, Governor Malam Umar Namadi conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Government and people of Kano State, and the bereaved families.

He described the deceased as young, talented individuals who embodied the spirit of sportsmanship and national service.

The governor also extended prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

He acknowledged the emotional weight of the tragedy and emphasized that Jigawa stands in solidarity with Kano during this time of mourning.

Governor Namadi prayed for divine comfort for the affected families and urged for continued unity and compassion in the face of such national grief.

He also called for Allah’s mercy upon the victims and protection against future tragedies.
