Police in Katsina State have carried out a successful operation in Malumfashi Local Government Area, during which they neutralized a notorious bandit, Audu Kushin of Tsamiyar Maigoro village, and rescued kidnapped victims.

This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, the state capital.

According to him, the police received a distress call at the Malumfashi Division reporting that armed men, suspected to be bandits, had attacked Unguwar Lado and Karo villages.

 

In response, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was dispatched to the scene, where they engaged the assailants in a gun battle.

Sadiq further explained that five kidnapped victims were shot and injured by the assailants.

The victims include Labaran Tijjani, Mai Unguwa Usman, Iliya Hamisu, Yahaya Dahiru, and Abdurrahman Umar.

The injured victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Malumfashi for immediate medical attention.

He added that efforts were being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

This successful operation is part of the Command’s ongoing onslaught against banditry and kidnapping, demonstrating its commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the efforts of the operatives and charged them to sustain the momentum.

He further called on members of the public to continue supporting the Command with timely and credible information to enable prompt and decisive action against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.

Similarly, the State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, convened an emergency security meeting to review strategic plans aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal Jobe; Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; Chairmen of the 34 local government areas; officials of C-Watch; and other critical stakeholders.
