Federal Government says about 13 million citizens are benefitting from  National Social Intervention programme across the 36 states including the FCT.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar faruk stated this during the training of over 90 independent monitors of the program in Dutse, jigawa state.

Hajiya sadiya Umar Farouk, represented by the Deputy Director Information and Communication Technology Mr Aminu Tukur explained that N-SIP was created by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with the vision of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of Social Interventions.

She said the special interventions include job creation programme, N-Power, national home grown school feeding programme, conditional cash transfer programme ,and the government enterprise and empowerment programme.

Hajiya sadiya Umar Farouk, urged the trainees to carry out the task with a sense of patriotism and work towards the vision of  lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.

The Minister pointed out that, participants would be assigned to monitor programme beneficiaries within their locality in schools, households, and market clusters towards ensuring the primary objectives  of these programmes were achieved.

“It is therefore my expectation that you carry out this responsibility with outmost diligence and sincerity.
“Please be informed that the ministry will not hesitate to take you off the program if you are found violating the terms of your engagement” she stressed.

According to her, the ministry is also collaborating with security agencies like the DSS, EFCC and ICPC to monitor these programmes. 

Jigawa state program’s focal person, Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo

Earlier, the Jigawa state program’s Focal Person Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo called on the trainers to take their duty with all seriousness and be sincere in their reports.

According to him, this is not about political appellation, location or personal interest, but about the masses who were direct beneficiaries of these interventions.
