Governor Umar Namadi has approved two key appointments aimed at strengthening governance and social services in Jigawa State.

In a statement by the Secretary to the Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, Hannafi Yakubu Fagam has been named the new Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Fagam, a veteran politician and former Commissioner for Finance (2007–2011), brings a wealth of experience to his new role, expected to enhance the state’s emergency response and disaster management capacity.

In a related development, the Governor also appointed Haruna Mairiga as his Special Adviser on Social Security.

Mairiga is a former Executive Secretary of SEMA, a background that positions him well to advise on policies targeting social welfare and security.

The statement highlighted that both appointments were made on the basis of merit, competence, and personal integrity, with a call for the appointees to justify the trust placed in them through dedicated service to the state.

The appointments take immediate effect.
