The Rotary Health Communities Nigeria, has pledged to end Malaria disease in Kebbi State through reinvest, reimagine and reignite.
Team leader, Rotary Health Communities Nigeria,Dr Dele Balogun, gave the assurance while briefing Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi to mark the World Malaria Day With the Team “Malaria Ends with Us”.
He stated that, Forty five countries of the world have been declared malaria free which is possible in Kebbi State.
According to him, statistics indicates that, in 2023, there was 263 million new cases of malaria worldwide and 597, 000 died out of the figure and as well in every one minute one person died of malaria.
Dr Balogun said, the disease remains a major public health challenge on the low income regions which Nigeria is part and as well out of the 263 million new cases, 95 percent rises in Africa.
He emphasized that, with the determination of stakeholders, malaria can be eliminated not with intervention of other foreign partners.
Additionally he also disclosed that, the Rotary Organisation is working in six local government areas of Kebbi state that include, Argungun, Arewa, Aleiro, Bagudo, Shanga and Fakai before covering the entire state.
