Federal Government has spent five billion naira as a grant to six thousand students across the North-Western Zone of the country under the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

Chief Executive and Director General of the SMEDAN, Mr Chile Ordi stated this during the disbursement of scholarship grant to students in Zaria.

The Chief Executive noted that disbursement was facility to the North West zone by office of the speaker house of representatives Dr Abbas Tajodeen.

Mr Chile explained that SMEDAN mandate is focused on rural industrialization, poverty reduction and livelihood Enhancement.

He added the grant had gone round the country where twenty five thousands students have benefitted.

Mr Chile added that five thousands students benefitted from the South south region.

The director general reiterated President Ahmed Bola Tunubu’s administration to improving the living standard especially students.

He charged students to utilize the fund judiciously to improve their socioeconomic status.

Speaking to newsman, some of the students who have benefited expressed happiness over the gesture and they thanked the speaker house of representative and the SMEDAN for touching their live as students.

The disbursement of Grant is in partnership between the office of the speaker house of representative ,one micro finance bank and SMEDAN .
