Residents of Gezawa local government area Kano were thrown into deep shock and mourning following the drowning of two women in a pond.

Reports indicate that the women (names withheld) met him their untimely death while taking a bath in an open water after returning from work in a local hibiscus processing factory.

According to the public relations officer Kano state fire service Saminu Yusif Abdullahi Gezawa fire service received a distress call from a vigilante in the community.

“Relatives of the two women reported the incident to the vigilante”

He pointed out that a rescue team was immediately mobilized to the scene, where they succeeded in retrieving the bodies unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

Saminu explained that the bodies have been handed over to a police constable Musa Garba of Gezawa police division.

He advised the public to desist from going near open water and rivers to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
