Federal government has once again been urged to intensify the fight against oil bunkering in the interest of the nation’s economy.

The President of the National Union of Pensioners, Alhaji Ibrahim Jikamshi, renewed the appeal in an interview in Kaduna.

Alhaji Ibrahim Jikamshi expressed concern over reports that more than ten billion dollars were lost to oil bunkering last year in the Niger Delta Region, despite efforts by security agencies to tackle the problem.

He was also dismayed that the World Bank yesterday approved five hundred million dollars loan for the country which has failed to deal with the corruption over the years and called for proactive measures to achieve desired objective.

Alhaji Ibrahim Jikamshi who reminded PTAD of promises to settle pension arrears since last year, noted that prayers by the citizenry were necessary to ensure good governance to justify the current democracy.
