Religious leaders in Kaduna State have expressed concern over reports of delayed payments of accumulated pension arrears in the country.
The Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Dr. Suleiman Adam, in his sermon before Friday prayers, also expressed dismay that senior citizens face such challenges despite their years of national service and sacrifice.
Dr. Suleiman Adam stressed the need for proactive measures to address the issue caused by alleged corruption in public service which should not be tolerated.
The Chief Imam noted that socio-economic problems caused by fuel subsidy removal had affected welfare of the pensioners including workers who also complain of under payment of salaries.
Worshipers at the mosque commended the Chief Imam for his concern and appealed for settlement of accumulated benefits to alleviate sufferings of retirees.
