Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of Nigeria has expressed concern over the alleged politicization of the education sector in some states of the federation.

The National President of the Association, Alhaji Haruna Danjuma Rigacikun, stated this in Kaduna, noting that the closure of schools for the Ramadan fast could negatively impact the sector if not reversed by the relevant authorities.

Alhaji Haruna advised the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to intervene rather than allow the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to institute legal action against the school closures.

The PTA President said that everything possible should be done to promote educational activities nationwide, devoid of sentiments.

He also commended private individuals who have established foundations to cater to the educational needs of less privileged children.

Alhaji Haruna Danjuma called for the support of the three tiers of government for such humanitarian ventures to achieve the desired objectives, considering the high number of out-of-school children in the country, estimated at about thirteen million.
