Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has pledged to implement additional policies to enhance agricultural production and other segments of the agricultural value chain in the state.
He made this statement in Dutse during a grand ceremony organized by the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), where he was conferred with the Diamond Prize of Excellence in Food Security.

Alhaji Umar Namadi explained that one of the strategic development objectives of the state government was to ensure sustained agricultural production with the goal of creating employment opportunities in the state.

He noted that the agricultural transformation drive also aims to ensure food security and promote economic diversification.
Governor Namadi highlighted that the government’s focus on agriculture has positioned the state as a leading producer of various food and cash crops in the country, including wheat, rice, sesame, and hibiscus.

He stated that these efforts have also made the state a significant contributor to national food security and the diversification of the national economy.

According to him, developing the agricultural sector aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals of ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Umar Namadi expressed gratitude to the NIPR for the award and pledged to implement additional policies to further transform the state’s agricultural sector.

Earlier in his speech, the NIPR President and Chairman of the Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, stated that the NIPR award aims to encourage good governance at various levels of government.

e commended the governor for initiatives that have strengthened food security and created thousands of jobs along the agricultural value chain.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Commissioners for Information, Finance, and Local Government took turns to discuss the impact of the state’s agricultural transformation project on security and other sectors.

Radio Nigeria reports that the event also featured the investiture of Governor Umar Namadi as the Patron of the Jigawa State chapter of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
