The use of modern teaching techniques has been identified as a major catalyst for educational development.

The state coordinator of the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All CSACEFA Dr. Auwal Halilu made the indication during a two-day capacity-building workshop for teachers held at Kumbotso Special Primary School , Kano.

According to him, forty teachers were selected to undergo training on new methods, technology utilization and material development for ECD learners.

He pointed out that it is a baseline study for six months of thorough training for teachers by giving them the rudiments in terms of modern teaching techniques.

 

“Utilization of mother tongue for the ECD learners, we provided learning materials including TV and IEC materials to enable them to learn like other children in private schools and developed countries”.

Dr. Auwal stressed that the School-based Management Committee SBMC, Parents Teachers Association PTA and other relevant stakeholders were engaged.

” so that we have collaborative efforts to help our children learn to catch them young”.

Kano state SBMC chairman Alhaji Tijjani Haladu Baraya described the workshop as apt, saying that the selection of Kumbotso which is a semi-urban local government area would go a long way in yielding positive results.

 

The Interim Management Committee IMC Chairman , Kumbotso local government Alhaji Kabiru Hussaina pledged to cascade and support the workshop across other primary schools in the area.

He stressed that the workshop aligns with the mission and vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on uplifting education to a global standard.

Others who spoke include the Ward Head of Kumbotso, Aminu Iliyasu, the facilitator Idris Abdulqadir and ECC class teacher Talatu Isah.

Radio Nigeria reports that the event themed: Innovative Techniques for Early Grade Teaching and Learning was organized by CSACEFA and Sterling One Foundation (SOF).
