In an effort to bring relief to the less privileged and vulnerable populations, the Kauru Local Government Council LGC in Kaduna State has distributed food items valued at millions of Naira.

The Information Officer of the Council Alhaji Sani Yahaya in statement says the initiative aims to mitigate the economic challenges faced by residents due to the recent removal of petroleum subsidies, which has led to soaring food prices.

The distribution was officially launched by the council chairman, Alhaji Bashir Tanko Dawaki, in Kauru.

He stated that beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the local government area to ensure fair and broad-reaching support.

Alhaji Bashir Tanko Dawaki urged those responsible for distributing the food items to ensure an equitable process, so the aid reaches deserving individuals across the eleven political wards of the area.

He commended the State Government, led by Governor Uba Sani, for its foresight in initiating programs and activities that positively impact the lives of the people, especially the downtrodden.

The chairman highlighted the critical timing of this support, noting that many households were struggling to put food on the table due to the high cost of food items in the market.

He advised beneficiaries to make good use of the food items and appealed to those who did not receive aid this time to be patient, as more distributions are planned.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the local government council for the timely initiative.

They pledged their support for the current administration and prayed for its continued success.

A total of 886 bags of assorted food items, including maize, millet, and guinea corn, were distributed, primarily benefiting women in the community.

This effort by the Kauru Local Government Council emphasised its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and mitigating the impacts of economic hardship in the region.
