Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has performed the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of the 5.5 billion naira permanent site for College of Nursing Sciences and Midwifery, Hadejia, to ensure adequate and qualified manpower in the health sector.

The Governor explained that effective healthcare delivery was a key promise made before the elections which were encapsulated into a 12-point agenda blueprint for the overall development of Jigawa State.

He said the project, divided into two phases and costing 3 billion and 2.5 billion naira respectively is expected to be completed in the space of 18 months.

Mallam Umar Namadi further said his administration has also targeted establishing one general hospital in each of the 30 state assembly constituencies and a primary healthcare facility in each of the 287 political wards.

He noted that  this is in addition to the specialist hospitals established in each of the three senatorial zones.

Governor Namadi maitained that to ensure sufficient medical personnel, the government has sent over 109 students to Cyprus to study medicine, with more studying domestically.

He pointed out that, with three colleges of nursing and midwifery in Birninkudu, Babura, and Hadejia, the Governor added that he is optimistic about the availability of healthcare workers.
