Leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have stormed the office of the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, to protest the hike in electricity tariffs in the country.

Addressing newsmen at the Discos office, Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Murtala Ahmed, said the protest was to urge the federal government to order a reversal of the recent hike in electricity tariffs nationwide, stating that the recent increase is unjustifiable and inhumane.

Comrade Usman expressed dismay at the untold economic hardship the hike would cause to the people in the country.

He therefore called on President Bola Tinubu to put an end to various harsh economic policies his administration has been introducing over the last year, which have contributed to poverty among the citizenry.
