Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities has called upon the government to ensure it’s various intervention programs for them reach the desired targets.
The Chairman of the Association, Igabi Local Government Chapter in Kaduna State malam Ibrahim Rilwanu stated this during a courtesy visit to the management of Radio Nigeria Kaduna.
Mallam Ibrahim Rilwanu explained that people with disability have continued to suffered all kinds of neglect despite government delibrate policies to improve their lives.
‘Palliative items are being distributed, and based on the rules set for such distributions, people with disabilities are supposed to benefit. However, when it commences, we are always excluded ‘,he said
The Chairman appealed to politicians to fear God and discharge their responsibilities honourably, especially in regards and needs of people living with disability.
He also decried lack of implementation to easy access of National buildings for the smooth operation of their day to day activities.
‘the government has given directive in principle before enactments of a law for easy access to building for disable persons but is not been implemented,
‘also persons with disabilities are supposed to enjoyed at least five percent of government patronage but is not been implemented in many states ‘,he concluded.
Mallam Ibrahim Rilwanu therefore called on the media to subsidize advertising rates for people with disabilities in order to air their views and opinions on issues that affect them.
Responding, the deputy director program mallam Auwallu mamman assured the association of the organization readiness to work with them in areas of concern, explaining that the station accommodates and gives fair hearing to all.
