Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board says the National Hajj Commission allocated 1,568 seats to the State for the 2024 Hajj exercise.

The Public Relations Officer of the Board , Alhaji Hamza Baba Muri disclosed this via telephone interview in Jalingo.

Alhaji Hamza Baba Muri said out of the allotted seats, 1,002 have already been filled while the state government will sponsor 113 individuals.

“889 people have self-sponsored their pilgrimage, and two people have registered under the Hajj Savings Scheme”.

This year, the cost of the Hajj fare for intending pilgrims from the northern is N8.2 million, while those from the southern will pay N8.4 million.

For this year’s Hajj, Taraba State has earmarked over nine hundred million naira for the sponsorship of one hundred and thirteen intending pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Governor Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of HRM Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo as the 2024 Almirul Hajj.

A press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yusuf Sanda said Alhaji Ado Adamu Mazang- Chief of Mumuye and Alhaji Garba Bawuro- Chief of Ibi were appointed as members of the Amirul Hajj Committee with immediate effect.
