President of Taimako Women in Media, Mrs Queen Kunde Enoch has advocated for the enactment of a law that would enable the free distribution of sanitary pads to women and girls in the country.

She made the call during the distribution of sanitary pads to five hundred (500) women and girls at the Gpantinapo Market along the Jalingo-Yola road in Taraba State

Mrs. Enoch explained that the gesture was part of the celebration of her 44th birthday.

Her initial target was to reach out to one thousand (1000) women.

However, due to financial constraints, only five hundred women were able to benefit.

Mrs. Enoch emphasized the need for the distribution of sanitary pads to women and girls, stating that it is a natural occurrence that cannot be avoided.

She described Gpantinapo as one of the neglected communities in the Jalingo LGA of the State and felt that it was necessary to reach out to the women in the community due to the increasing poverty level.

Furthermore, Mrs. Enoch disclosed that she and her team visited the Taraba State House of Assembly during the celebration where they lodged a request with the Clerk.

The request was for the enactment of a law that would provide free distribution of sanitary pads to women and girls in Taraba State.

The Clerk, who is also a woman, was receptive to the request and provided them with advice on how to proceed.

They are currently working on drafting a bill in that regard.

“As the President of Taimako Women in Media, I promised myself to press for a government policy starting with Taraba State to see how we can have a government bill to make free distribution of pads to women and girls in the State,” said Mrs. Enoch.

Beneficiaries of the donation, Rahila Ezekiel and Grace Godwin, expressed their appreciation to Taimako Women in Media, specifically the President, for the timely gesture.

They noted that the donation came at a time when they were in need but unable to afford it.

They prayed for blessings upon Mrs. Queen Enoch.
