Niger State Government has secured approval from the Federal Government to reconstruct the 90 kilometres Kontagora-Rijau road project.

The Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this when he visited the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alh Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu the second in his palace at the ancient city of Kontagora.

Mohammed Umar Bago explained that the reconstruction of the road would be part of his Urban Renewal Policy, aimed at easing the movement of people and goods, as well as boosting socio-economic activities in the area upon completion.

According to the Governor, he visited the palace of the Sarkin Sudan Kontagora to seek royal blessings, reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the people of the Kontagora Emirate and Niger State.

Mohammed Umar Bago expressed gratitude to the Emirate for their ongoing support to his administration, emphasizing that his visit aims to reciprocate this kindness and fulfill some of the commitments made to the people of Niger State.

He said he would celebrate the Eid-il-Fitr in Kontagora as part of efforts to promote brotherhood,love and unity amongst the entire people of Niger state.

In a remark, the Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, expressed happiness with Governor Umar Bago’s developmental plans for the state and assured him that the people of Kontagora Emirate would continue to support his policies and programs to ensure their success.

Radio Nigeria reports that the Governor previously commissioned several projects in Kontagora, including the renovated Aliyu Tahir e-library overseen by the Chairman of the Kontagora Local Government Council, and the new Office of the Kontagora Emirate Development Initiative, a project initiated by the Sarkin Sudan to promote the economic, educational, and political development of his Emirate.

Other are a 6-bed capacity health clinic renamed after the state Governor which was built by his Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, at the Gangaren Saggi Community in Kontagora.
