Farmers have been charged to desist from patronizing technology based seeds and fertilizers aim at having nutritional food in the country.

The programme manager of a non governmental organization -Health Of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF) Joyce Ebebeinive during a dialogue meeting with farmers on food and farming system at kwankwaso village Madobi local Government Area of Kano state.

Joyce Ebebeinve explained that the Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) have a lot of implications to the environment, health and the economy.

She said government at all levels needed to look critically on the use of GMO’s by farmers with a view to reverting to the tradition of using Manure and seeds that have not been modified in farming towards producing nutritious food.

The programme manager also hinted that the use of GMO’s have been banned in many African countries due to its negative effects.

Joyce Ebebeinve said the essence of the meeting was to enlighten the farmers on the effects of the GMO’s ,so that they decide on weather to countinue using the GMO’s or reject it for Good.

Hajara Usman and Lawal Aminu Kwankwaso who were Among Farmers attended the meeting said it was timely and would improve agricultural production in the country.
