No fewer than ten people have died while unspecified number of people sustained injuries as a result of stampede in Sokoto state.

In a statement issued by the public relations officer of the PDP, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinna says the stampede was as a result of a poor arrangement of distribution of Sallah food and clothing items to members of the public at the resident of the APC leader of the state, Senator Alu Magatakardan Wamako.

According the statement, a lady officer of the National Civil Defense Corp was among the ten people who died in the unfortunate tragedy.

The statement extends PDP part heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased while praying for the recovery of victims, who sustained injuries at the scene of the regrettable occurrence.

It further wishes to call on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the matter, with a view to forestaling what its described as dehumanizing exercise of sharing cheap items.

The statement also demands the payment of compensation to the families of those who lost their lives and others who were injured at the incident.

Similarly, unconfirmed statement by some members of the public, suggest that more than fifteen people Lost their lives in the stampede.

Effort made by Radio Nigeria to confirmed the incident from the Nigeria Police and the civil defense was not successful.
