The TikTok sensation Murja Ibrahim Kunya is appearing before a Federal High Court in Kano as requested by her legal team, seeking her court appearance after she has been mandated for mental health assessment by a psychiatrist.

The presiding Judge, Justice AM Liman, directed her appearance in response to her lawyers’ plea.

Murja Kunya, represented by Barrister Yusuf Ali Faragai, sought bail from the Federal High Court after the Sharia Lower Court mandated her evaluation by a psychiatric specialist for mental health assessment.

Arguing that her alleged offence in the Kano State Shari’a Court was bailable, her legal team approached the Federal High Court, maintaining her innocence.

During the court session, Murja’s counsel requested the location of her whereabouts from the defendants to assess her well-being, prompting the prosecution to bring her before the court.

The defendants in the suit include the Kano Attorney General, Kano Hisbah Board and Kano State Shari’ah Court, PRP.

The prosecution’s representative, Barrister HH Suleiman, promptly filed an objection to challenge the court’s jurisdiction over the bail application for Murja

The court adjourned to allow her legal counsel to address the prosecution’s objection.
