National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA says nigeria had over 99.05 million Internet users across the country last year.

The Director General, Alhaji Kashifu Inuwa disclosed this at a one day digital training workshop on online and e-marketing to members of jigawa state chamber of commerce, mines and agriculture at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall in Dutse.

Alhaji Kashifu Inuwa explained that, statistics shows that over one hundred and twenty four million nigerians were using the Internet.

According to him, e-marketing is the easiest way for businesses to advertise, sell products as it reduced cost of doing business by not relying on physical stores and the fastest way to reach millions of targeted customers in a very short period of time. 

Alhaji Kashifu Inuwa said participants at the workshop would learn about the processes of marketing using the Internet, selected software, tools, computer and mobile devices and also learn to ensure safety, security and privacy of users when online.

He pointed out that NITDA had reached 18 out of the 27 local government areas of jigawa state interms of provision of infrastructure to the people.

”On moves to digitise the agricultural sector by the federal government, the agency has adopted hundreds of farmers into the national adopted village for smart agriculture programme to provide Nigerians farmers ways to showcase thier farm produce in a digital world market”the Director General added

Also speaking, the Jigawa State Deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi who was represented, urged participants to make good use of knowledge acquired during the training to improve their online and e-marketing businesses.

He commended NITDA for providing internet infrastructures adding that the remaining nine local government areas would also be provided with Internet services by the agency soon.
