Jigawa State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC has participated in the nationwide protests and called on the federal government to withdraw anti-human policies.

The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari, stated that the peaceful protest aimed to demonstrate to the government that the policies they implemented were excessively burdensome for the Nigerian people.

He urged the federal government to withdraw the policies especially fuel subsidy removal which resulted to high  inflation of commodities and transportation.

Radio Nigeria reports that the peaceful protest commenced at the Dutse Central Eid prayer ground, then proceeded through major streets of the metropolis, and concluded at Government House Dutse, where the NLC leadership presented their stance on fuel subsidy removal.

Addressing the protesters, the Jigawa state Governor Mallam Umar Namadi promised to deliver the labour Union’s needs to the federal government for action.

Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, called on the protesters to be calm and be law-abiding.

He appreciated the cordial working relationship that exists between NLC and the state government.

The governor urged them not to allow hoodlums infiltrate the peaceful protest while assuring them of government’s commitment to look into their demand with the aim of addressing them.

The peaceful protest was attended by all affiliate unions in the state.
