The nationwide protests organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress was held peacefully in Maiduguri the Borno capital. 

Members of the organised labour as early as eight in the morning converged on NLC Secretariat at New GRA to protest against what the Congress refer to as anti-poor policy of the administration of President Bola Tinubu. 

NLC members and its affiliate match from the Secretariat to the NUJ Secretariat along Lagos street despite resistance by security agents who insisted that the protest should be held within the Secretariat. 


However, the protest went on peacefully with members carrying placards with different inscriptions such as hunger and poverty do not know any tribe, religion,.party or geopolitical arrangements; increase in school fees will cause increase in number of out of school children among others. 

In Borno state, the ban on protest or any form of procession is still enforce due to insecurity that had bedevelled the state for fourteen years. 

Addressing members of the Union, NLC Chairman comrade Yusuf Inuwa represented by the Vice chairman 1 comrade Mamman Bukar commended civil servants and other members of the organised labour for their resilience by coming out in their numbers despite the harsh economic situation. 

He demanded for the immediate reversal of recent hike in petrol price, school fees and value added tax VAT, revitalize all the four local refineries among other demands of the Union. 

The NLC Chairman assured members of the Union that the struggle will continue until their demands are met.
