At least One thousand, six hundred (1,600) pilgrims from Kwara State that performed this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia through the state Pilgrim’s Welfare Board have so far been airlifted back home.

The Executive Secretary of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam who made the disclosure in an interview with Newsmen said the state contingent lost one elderly Pilgrim ,Alhaji Busari Alao at the holy land

According to him six flights had already been operated with the latest arrival via Air Peace with 271 pilgrims on board .

Alhaji Abdulsalam urged the remaining pilgrims yet to be airlifted back home to be patient ,adding that the state will resume another flight on the 19th of this month (July) and complete the exercise before the end of the month.

He maintained that the delay was due to the reassigning of the air Carrier to airlift Pilgrims from Ondo and Ekiti States under the zone.
