Speaker House of Representatives Dr AbbasTajuddeen, has described as unfortunate the report of flood that ravaged an estate in Lugbe, Abuja, destroying 116 houses and property worth millions of Naira.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Malam Musa Abdullahi Kirshi, Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, says it’s highly regrettable that people with thier families to found themselves in such a difficult situation.

The Speaker who sympathized with the residents of the Estate over the unfortunate incident advised them to take necessary measures to avoid flood prone areas.

He recalled that relevant government agencies had before the rainy season alerted the possibility of flood in some parts of the country, stressing that public must heed such warnings.

Dr Abbas however, called on the authorities to swing into action to avert the reoccurrence of the incident.

The statement further confirmed that the Emergency Management Agency FCT Abuja, had on Friday said 116 were submerged but no life was lost.
