Troops of the newly launched Operation TURA TAKAIBANGO a subsidiary of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the North East has killed 28 insurgents following attack on Gujba town in Yobe state.                

The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard  Onyeuko made this known in a statement shared with Radio Nigeria.

It says, though few other insurgents have escaped with gunshot wounds, the troops have destroyed one Boko Haram Gun Truck with its occupants while another Gun Truck was captured from the fleeing insurgents.                                            

Other equipments recovered include;  2 Anti Aircraft Guns, 13  AK 47 Rifles, 4 extra magazines and a Vulcanizing Machine.

The statement further reveals that one soldier lost his life during the encounter while another one that sustained injuries is responding to treatment at a military medical facility.

Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has commended the military for the gallantry exhibited during the Gujba attack.

Governor Buni  in a statement said the determination of the security forces in pursuing the insurgents would change the narrative in the fight against insecurity in the country.

He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the security agencies in view of the overwhelming security challenges facing the country.

He directed the Yobe state Emergency Management Agency to provide the needed assistance to the people of the affected community to cushion their hardship.
