The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the collation of the 2023 presidential election results till Monday, February 27, 2023.
INEC made the announcement immediately after the result of the polls in Ekiti was announced by the returning officer for the state.
The reason for the postponement, according to INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, was because the results of other states have not arrived in Abuja.
Collation of results across the country
Meanwhile, the collation of results of Saturday’s general election are ongoing at the designated local government area collation centers and states across the country.
The collation of results from the Presidential election in Nasarawa State has commenced.

The State Collation Officer of INEC, Professor Ishaya Tanko, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, while reading the ground rules of the exercise, pledged to be fair and just, and to deliver according to the electoral law.
INEC headquarters in Lafia, which is the collation Centre for the presidential election, is under a heavy security presence, in order to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
Similarly, collation of election results is ongoing at the INEC Collation Centre, Ilorin, characterised by a heavy presence of security personnel, as well as party agents and the media.
So far, presidential results for 5 out of the 16 local government have been collated.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara State, Mallam Garba Madami says there will be no re run of election in any part of the state.
Also, the state collation officer in Kano, Professor Lawal Bilbis pledged to ensure “smoothness of the Collation”.
Professor Bilbis made the pledge at the beginning of the collation of presidential results from the 44 LGA’s Of Kano.
The Collation officer, also the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of usman Danfodio university, appealed to all stakeholders to give their “maximum support” in ensuring a smooth-sailing exercise.
In Lagos State, Collation for the Presidential Election has started at INEC Lagos Office, Yaba
17 out of 20 local government areas in Lagos State have been submitted at the State Collation Centre, Yaba.
The results for 17 of the state’s 20 LGAs presented by 3:40 am on Monday include Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Badagry, Agege, Ikeja, Shomolu, Kosofe, Amuwo Odofin, Eti Osa, Surulere, Apapa, Ifako Ijaiye, Ajeromi, Oshodi Isolo.
Results presented for Mushin LGA have yet to get cleared by the state collation officer as they are being contested by the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and thus had yet to be signed by most party agents.
INEC asked that they be presented afresh.
Meanwhile, Ojo and Alimosho are the only two LGAs left to be announced.
Collation is expected to reconvene later today.
