Kwara State Government has commenced free transport palliatives for students and staff of tertiary institutions in the state.

Special Assistant to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq on Students Affairs, Bello Mubarak, while monitoring the take off of the exercise in Ilorin, said the initiative was part of measures put in place to cushion the hardship caused by fuel scarcity and currency swap.

According to him the free transportation was considered necessary by the state government to ease suffering of students.

Mubarak explained that the state Government after receiving complaints from the students’ unions’ leaders, deemed it fit to convey them to their campuses free of charge.

In his remark, Senior Special Assistant to Kwara state governor on Transport (Central), Orire Ibrahim, said the programme was meant to save the students from missing their classes daily.

Some of the students, appreciated the administration for being responsive and sensitive to their plights.
